Getting excited in Jakarta – out shopping and seeing good friends.
Fabulous trip with the fabulous Lesley & Alex in California with a night in Tokyo eating, shopping and walking then delicious few days in San Francisco sampling the best food (modern Moroccan at Mourad, Greek at Kokkari Estiatorio, dim sum for Lesley’s birthday at Yank Sing) and the California Academy of Science (as seen, adapted of course, in Big Hero 6), Golden Gate Bridge, Musee Mecanique, food markets and so much more. Then up to beautiful northern California to stay and L & A’s house – such a lovely time hanging out, eating delicious food, celebrating Christmas with them and their friends, an incredible walk through the redwoods with their friend Keith the most knowledgeable ranger ever who told us so many amazing things about the trees and the forest.
As John Steinbeck said “The redwoods once seen, leave a mark or create a vision that stays with you always…from them comes silence and awe. The most irrelevant of men in the presence of redwoods, goes under a spell of wonder and respect.”
Planes, trains and cool rides……the drive up to northern California, Alex’s cool rides (vintage Pontiac at home and a fire engine at work), cool old vintage cars, bicycles, stretched limo, Caravan of Glam which sadly we had to pass….
On to Napa Valley for New Year. What can I say……we stayed in a spa resort with naturally heated pools in 0 degrees, vineyards. mud treatment, great food, cycling, fantastic New Year’s Eve in our stretched limo having cocktails and dinner in a French restaurant
